On 20 June, Arcane Cycling Team will proudly join forces with Gay Cycling Club for a community Pride Cycle across Dublin.

This is exactly the kind of collaboration that strengthens our community. Different organisations, different histories and different members, brought together by a shared commitment to visibility, inclusion and the simple joy of riding bicycles together.

The ride will begin at Belmont Park in Raheny, with participants meeting at the Red Stables in St Anne’s Park from 11:00am before making their way across the city to the Papal Cross in the Phoenix Park. The day will conclude with lunch at Outhouse, with proceeds from the €10 registration supporting one of Ireland’s most important LGBTQ+ community organisations.

For Arcane Cycling Team, this is what cycling should look like – Just people getting on bikes and riding together.

As an intersex and trans woman, and as someone who has spent much of her sporting life navigating systems that too often seemed designed to exclude rather than include, I know how significant genuinely welcoming spaces can be.

Cycling has given me friendship, confidence, purpose and freedom. It has also shown me bureaucracy, prejudice and exclusion. That is precisely why Arcane exists.

We believe everybody deserves a place in cycling, regardless of gender identity, sex characteristics, sexuality, race, disability, age or background. We believe local clubs should build communities, not barriers.

Pride is not only about celebration. It is about creating ordinary spaces where LGBTQ+ people can exist openly, safely and joyfully. It is about making our presence visible in parks, on roads, in sports clubs and in everyday life.

And sometimes it simply means a group of people riding bicycles across Dublin before sharing lunch with friends.

If you would like to take part, registration is just €10, with all proceeds supporting Outhouse. Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or simply want to show your support, we’d love to see you there.

Because the more visible we are, the harder we are to erase.
