Arcane Cycling Team Update: Building Community on and off the Bike

Arcane Cycling Team shares an update on upcoming track sessions at Sundrive Velodrome, an Earth Day cycling event with Outhouse, and plans for inclusive community cycling.

Arcane Cycling Team is continuing to grow slowly and thoughtfully, and we wanted to share an update on where things are at and what is coming up over the next few weeks.

Arcane is a community-led, volunteer-run cycling club that centres trans, intersex and non-binary people while welcoming cis women and allies who respect that focus. Our goal is simple: to create a cycling space where people feel comfortable, supported and able to participate without pressure.

Rather than running a large calendar of weekly rides, we are focusing on intentional activities that help build confidence, skills and community.

Track Sessions at Sundrive Velodrome

One of the most exciting developments is that we have booked two track sessions at Sundrive Velodrome.

These sessions are designed to be welcoming and accessible for riders who want to try track cycling or build their confidence riding on the velodrome.

Upcoming Track Dates

22 March 2026 – 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
3 April 2026 – 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Track bikes, cycling shoes and helmets will be available for riders who need them, and an accredited coach will be present to help people feel comfortable and supported on the track.

Track cycling can seem intimidating if you have never tried it before, but these sessions are designed to be relaxed, supportive and beginner-friendly.

Midweek Track Training

We are also exploring the possibility of regular midweek track training sessions.

These would focus on developing confidence, improving skills and giving riders a chance to spend more time riding together. If there is enough interest, this could become a regular part of the Arcane calendar.

If this is something you would like to see happen, please let us know.

Earth Day Event with Outhouse

We are also working with Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre to organise a cycling-focused Earth Day event.

The idea is to host a community day centred around cycling and bike care, including bike maintenance support and opportunities for people to learn more about getting started with cycling.

Cycling plays an important role in building healthier communities and reducing environmental impact, and this event is a chance to connect those ideas with our wider community.

More details on this will follow soon.

Working on Inclusion in Cycling

Alongside our activities on the bike, we are also continuing our work on inclusion within cycling.

We are currently drafting an open letter to Cycling Ireland regarding the inclusion of a non-binary option within the membership registration system. Small structural changes like this can make a meaningful difference in ensuring that more people feel recognised and included in sport.

Growing With Our Members

Arcane Cycling Team is still in the early stages of its relaunch, and we are intentionally allowing the club to grow with the people involved in it.

Many of the best ideas for rides, sessions and activities come directly from members. That might mean organising a relaxed spin, suggesting a workshop, hosting a social meet-up, or helping new riders feel welcome.

Cycling does not need to be competitive to be meaningful. For many people, simply having a space to ride, learn and connect is what matters most.

If you are interested in getting involved, joining a session, or helping shape what Arcane becomes, you are very welcome.

You do not need to have everything figured out. Just come along and see how it feels.
