Arcane Cycling Team Is What Our Members Make It

Arcane Cycling Team is a member-run inclusive cycling club in Ireland, centring trans, intersex, and non-binary people while welcoming allies who share our values.

Arcane Cycling Team is a small, member-run, volunteer-led inclusive cycling club in Ireland. We centre people of marginalised genders, including trans, intersex, and non-binary people, while welcoming allies who share our values.

Rather than weekly compulsory club rides, we focus on a small number of intentional activities that support confidence, skills, connection, and enjoyment on the bike.

We are building Arcane slowly and thoughtfully. Across the year, this includes inclusive skills sessions, confidence-focused rides, track opportunities, and social meet-ups. Our activities are designed to welcome riders with a wide range of experience, including people who are new to cycling or returning after time away.

Community First Cycling

When you join Arcane Cycling Team, you are not just joining a cycling club. You are joining a community.

Members are encouraged to self-organise and share ideas. This might include relaxed rides, skills practice, track sessions, bikepacking ideas, coffee or pub meet-ups, craft or mechanics sessions, and talks or workshops.

Activities and opportunities are shared through our member channels, and members are always welcome to suggest or host something themselves.

Interested in Joining Arcane Cycling Team

You are welcome to come along to a session or event to meet us, ask questions, and see how things feel. We also ask members to read our Equality and Inclusion Policy, which sets out how we aim to create a safer and more welcoming cycling space.

There is no pressure to perform or prove anything. You are welcome as you are.

Arcane Cycling Team Membership 2025

For 2025, Arcane Cycling Team membership is a token €5 for the year.
We want cost to never be a barrier to participation in cycling.

Cycling Ireland Membership and Insurance

We strongly encourage members to also hold Cycling Ireland membership, which provides important insurance and liability cover for both riders and the club.

If you would prefer support with this process, you can pay your Arcane membership directly and send us your contact details. We are happy to help you navigate Cycling Ireland membership.

What Arcane Cycling Team Membership Includes

We are here to support participation, not to gatekeep cycling.

Frequently Asked Questions

I Think I Am Too Slow to Join

You are not. Many Arcane activities are slow-speed and skills-focused. We value relaxed riding, chatty laps, and confidence-building sessions. Speed is never prioritised over belonging.

I Am Not Very Confident on a Bike

That is completely okay. Confidence grows with support, not pressure. Our sessions are designed to help you feel more comfortable riding, whether that is handling, road awareness, or simply riding with others.

I Meant a Different Kind of Not Very Confident

We understand. Joining a group can feel daunting, especially if you have experienced exclusion in sport before. Our approach is friendly, patient, and respectful. You are welcome to observe, ride quietly, or leave early if needed. There is no obligation to explain yourself.

I Do Not Use Clipless Pedals

No problem at all. Ride what you are comfortable with. If you decide to try clipless pedals later, low-pressure skills sessions are a good place to do so.

I Do Not Have a Proper Bike

That is fine. We can help you think through borrowing, hiring, or finding an affordable second-hand bike. Cycling should not be about having the right gear.

I Want to Ride but Not Race

That is perfect. Racing is always optional. Arcane Cycling Team values participation, wellbeing, and community first.

Who Is Arcane Cycling Team For

Arcane welcomes trans women, intersex people, non-binary people, trans men, cis women, and allies who respect our values. We centre people of marginalised genders and expect members to honour that focus.
