1. Commitment to Safeguarding
Arcane Cycling Team is committed to ensuring that cycling is a safe, positive and inclusive activity for all participants. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults who engage with the Club.
The Club is fully committed to creating and maintaining an environment where all members are treated with dignity and respect, and where safeguarding concerns are taken seriously and addressed appropriately.
2. Scope
This Safeguarding Statement applies to:
- All members of Arcane Cycling Team
- Coaches, volunteers and committee members
- All Club activities, including training, racing, events, workshops and online spaces
3. Principles
Arcane Cycling Team’s safeguarding approach is guided by the following principles:
- The welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults is paramount
- All participants have the right to be safe and protected from harm
- Safeguarding is a shared responsibility
- Concerns will be taken seriously, responded to promptly and handled appropriately
- Safeguarding procedures will be clear, transparent and fair
4. Compliance with Cycling Ireland
Arcane Cycling Team:
- Adheres to Cycling Ireland’s Safeguarding Policy
- Implements Cycling Ireland’s Codes of Conduct
- Cooperates fully with Cycling Ireland in relation to safeguarding matters
- Ensures that safeguarding requirements are met for all relevant activities
5. Safeguarding Officer
The Club shall appoint a Safeguarding Officer who will:
- Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns
- Promote awareness of safeguarding responsibilities within the Club
- Ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed
- Liaise with Cycling Ireland and statutory authorities where required
The Safeguarding Officer’s contact details will be made available to all members.
6. Reporting Safeguarding Concerns
Any safeguarding concern should be reported as soon as possible.
Concerns may be raised with:
- The Club Safeguarding Officer
- A member of the Committee
- Cycling Ireland, where appropriate
Concerns will be handled:
- Sensitively and confidentially, insofar as possible
- In line with Cycling Ireland procedures
- With the safety and wellbeing of the individual as the priority
7. Responding to Concerns
Arcane Cycling Team will:
- Take all concerns seriously
- Respond promptly and appropriately
- Follow Cycling Ireland guidance on referral to statutory agencies where necessary
- Ensure that no individual is penalised for raising a genuine concern
8. Safe Practice
The Club is committed to promoting safe practice by:
- Ensuring appropriate supervision of activities
- Providing clear guidance on acceptable behaviour
- Promoting respectful and inclusive interactions
- Addressing unsafe or inappropriate behaviour promptly
9. Review and Oversight
This Safeguarding Statement will be:
- Reviewed regularly
- Updated in line with Cycling Ireland policy changes
- Communicated to members as part of Club governance
10. Adoption
This Safeguarding Statement was adopted by Arcane Cycling Team on:
