Arcane Cycling Team is officially registered, paid up and fully affiliated with Cycling Ireland for the 2026 season. But more importantly, we are relaunching with purpose.
Arcane was founded with a long history in competitive cycling, structure and performance. In 2026, we are building on that foundation and reclaiming it as something more ambitious: a queer, activist, community-led cycling club, rooted in equality, care and collective action.
This is a relaunch that is both practical and political.
A club with history and infrastructure
Arcane is not starting from scratch. We have:
- a recognised club structure
- a constitution, code of conduct and safeguarding framework
- full Cycling Ireland affiliation
- an established premises and workshop
- experience across road and track cycling
That matters. It means we can move beyond talk and into action, with the protections, insurance and governance needed to support members properly.
A queer activist cycling club
Arcane Cycling Team is re-emerging as a space for queer cycling activism. We are explicitly welcoming:
- LGBTQIA+ riders
- trans and non-binary cyclists
- queer people of colour
- allies who are committed to equality and solidarity
Cycling has always been political, whether it admits it or not. We believe there is space, and a need, for a club that is willing to say that out loud and organise accordingly.
Community-led, member-driven
Arcane is a member-led organisation. That is not a slogan.
Members will:
- shape the direction of the club
- propose and lead campaigns
- decide priorities and activities
- hold leadership accountable
There is equality of membership here. No hierarchy of worth based on speed, experience or status.
If you want to ride, organise, campaign, support or build something collectively, you belong here.
All levels welcome
You do not need to race.
You do not need to be fast.
You do not need to fit a narrow idea of what a cyclist looks like.
We welcome:
- beginners
- returning riders
- experienced racers
- people curious about cycling but unsure where they fit
We cater for different levels, ambitions and relationships to the bike, from social riding and skill-building to competitive road and track cycling.
Activism, not just aesthetics
Arcane Cycling Team is about more than jerseys and group rides. We are interested in:
- equality in sport
- access to cycling
- trans inclusion
- challenging exclusionary practices
- building safer, fairer cycling spaces
Members will have the opportunity to join and lead campaigns, shape public-facing work and connect cycling to wider struggles for justice.
