Arcane Cycling Team is now fully registered and officially affiliated with Cycling Ireland. The paperwork is done. The insurance is in place. The governance is solid. And that matters, because what we are building next needs a real foundation.
But this is not just an administrative update.
This is the start of something deliberate.
A club with history and credibility
Arcane is not new. We are a club with a long and serious history in Irish cycling:
- multi-national medal wins
- international representation
- decades of racing, organising and coaching
- a reputation built in road and track cycling
That means we know how sport works, how the institution operates, and how to navigate it without losing our values.
A club with resources
We are not starting from zero. Arcane currently has:
- track bikes
- track wheels and equipment
- access to track facilities
- an established office, workshop and base
- officially qualified coaches
- full Cycling Ireland affiliation and insurance
This gives us the ability to run events, real training, real track days and real campaigns, not just informal meet-ups that disappear when the weather changes.
A queer, radical relaunch
Arcane is relaunching as a community-led, queer cycling club. That is intentional.
We are building a space for:
- LGBTQIA+ riders
- trans and non-binary cyclists
- queer people of colour
- allies committed to equality and solidarity
We are not interested in respectability politics. We are interested in access, dignity and collective power. Cycling has always been political, whether it admits it or not. We are choosing to be honest about that.
More than riding
Yes, we ride.
Yes, we train.
Yes, we race if people want to.
But Arcane is also about:
- challenging exclusion in cycling structures
- questioning rigid gender systems in sport
- creating safer, more inclusive cycling spaces
- using our status as a registered club to push for change
Being official gives us leverage. We intend to use it.
Community-led by design
Arcane is member-led. That is not a slogan.
Members will shape:
- what kind of rides we run
- what events we prioritise
- what campaigns we take on
- how the club grows and who it serves
All levels of cycling experience are welcome. You do not need to race. You do not need to be fast. You do not need to fit a narrow idea of what a cyclist looks like. What matters is respect, curiosity and a willingness to build something together.

We are now calling for new members.
